When was the work done?
The work started in August and finished in late October, 2011.

What was involved?
It was a two story extension which comprised an open plan kitchen com dining room downstairs and a bedroom upstairs

How did you choose FJB Construction Ltd?
We found out about Fintan from the Pickapro website. We had spoken to other builders but chose Fintan because we got the best vibe off him and he seemed to have a better idea of what we wanted.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Fintan Brady?
My wife and I had been thinking of this for years so we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to do. The extension itself was over 60 square metres so we needed to get planning permission and an architect to do up the plans.

Did Fintan introduce new ideas?
For the most part it wasn't necessary because we knew what we wanted and the plans reflected that but there were a few problems with the plans themselves that Fintan was very helpful in correcting. For instance, some of the room sizes were wrong and the roof the architect had designed wouldn't work. Fintan was able to design and build a roof that was even nicer than what the architect had originally planned for, it was brilliant.

How did the project run?
Fintan's absolutely brilliant, top class! He was bang on budget and bang on time, in fact Fintan was able to complete the work two days early. Everyone Fintan brought in to work were brilliant as well. We were able to go off, let them in the house and know that everything would be done correctly. We were living in the house during the project and if we ever needed them to stop for a few hours or days, it was never a problem. They worked around our schedule.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using FJB Construction Ltd?
With Fintan in charge I had no worries, I just knew it would be done right. He brought a confidence to the project. There were no hassles at all and I never had to chase Fintan down for anything. I always knew were I stood and how the project was progressing.

What's your favourite part now?
The new extension matched the existing look of the house exactly. It doesn't look like a separate job at all, it looks like it came with the house. We're in the house five years now and Fintan went off for a couple of days and chased down the original builders to source the same materials they had used when they built the house, it was brilliant. That just shows the type of small attention to detail that Fintan brought to the job.

Would you recommend FJB Construction Ltd to others?
In a second, yes. If I ever have a need of a builder I'm going back to Fintan and I'll recommend him to anyone else as well.

Any tips for other people?
First of all it's important to know your own project and to have a good idea of what you want but listen to the builders as well. They're the experts and they may give you ideas you hadn't considered.
